Our Story
Antica Productions was founded in 2008 by Stuart Coxe who after years working as the Executive producer of Canada’s most popular nightly news program The National, as well as starting the reality TV hits Dragons’ Den and Shark’s Tank, decided it was time to start something new.
The company has a number of early successes, including originating formats like Canada’s Next Great Prime Minister, a format that traveled around the world with productions in Germany, Bulgaria, France, Latvia, and New Zealand. During its first few years, Antica also produced food formats like Compete to Eat and worked in social media and music production with clients such as Universal Music, Greenpeace, and Swiss broadcaster SRF.
And then in 2016 everything changed when Antica produced The Secret Path, an animated film based on the story of Chanie Wenjack, a young boy who perished at a residential school in the 1960s in Ontario. It was Canadian music icon Gord Downie's final project and became a live tour, book, and three-feature series.
That work really shaped the company's current direction, which has combined journalism, purpose-driven storytelling, and a deep understanding of how to stand out in a crowded media landscape.
In 2020, Antica was a founding partner in TellTale Industries in London, led by Jago Lee, who shared Antica’s passion for audio and background in television.
Our work has won many awards and often has very large audiences, but we are most proud that we continue to attract some of the world’s top creators and journalists who find we can help them make personal and unique shows in TV, film, or audio.
