Big Tech Podcast Wins Outstanding Technology Series Award At Canadian Podcast Awards

Toronto, Canada – June 21, 2021 – PODCAMP TORONTO’s second annual CANADIAN PODCAST AWARDS announced the winners for its 2021 edition today. The awards are celebrating outstanding podcasts produced by Canadian podcasters, editors, and producers.

We are proud to announce that Big Tech, our ongoing podcast series in collaboration with the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), has won the Outstanding Technology Series award.

Depending who you ask, big tech is either going to save humanity or destroy us. Taylor Owen thinks it’s a little more complicated than that. In Big Tech podcast, Owen chats with leading thinkers as they make sense of a world transformed by technology.

“Shows like Big Tech exemplify the wealth of talent we have here in Canada and reflect the unique attitudes, opinions, ideas, values, and creativity of Canadians,” said John Leschinski, Chair of Podcamp Toronto. “We had over 500 entries this year from across the country – it’s really an incredible achievement to be selected by your peers in the Canadian podcasting community.”

Taylor Owen is a senior fellow with the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and is the Beaverbrook Chair of Media, Ethics and Communications, the director of the Centre for Media, Technology and Democracy, and an associate professor at the Max Bell School of Public Policy at McGill University.

Big Tech is presented by CIGI in association with Antica Productions, and produced by Trevor Hunsberger and Mitchell Stuart.
