2 Antica Podcasts Win Gold at the 2021 New York Festivals Radio Awards
New York, NY — October 12, 2021 — New York Festivals® Radio Awards has announced the 2021 winners and two of Antica’s latest productions – The Lost Kids and The Followers: House of Prayer – are Gold medal winners in the ‘Narrative/Documentary’ podcast category.
The 2021 Radio Awards Grand Jury of creative media professionals and content creators from around the globe awarded winners based on production values, writing, creativity, direction, achievement of purpose, and audience suitability.
The Lost Kids is a story about Daniel Yuen, a missing teen whose behavioural problems led his parents to seek out psychiatrists and then enrol him in a CEDU school. That therapeutic boarding school and behaviour modification program in the San Bernardino Mountains of southern California was the last place Yuen was seen at, before he vanished in 2004. He was 16. But what begins as an investigation into one missing teen soon expands into an expose of the profitable “troubled teen” industry, which received a considerable boost from endorsements by politicians and features on daytime talk shows.
The Followers: House of Prayer is a story about a daughter’s call to police about memories of her mother’s alleged crimes and how that triggered a year-long investigation into a cult, the disappearance of a child and a murder. Hosted by journalist Leila Day and former prosecutor and investigative journalist Beth Karas (“Unspeakable Crime: The Killing of Jessica Chambers”), this podcast delves into the alleged torture, abuse & death that occurred at the hands of cult leader Anna Young.
Both series were produced in partnership with NBCUniversal’s USG Audio.
